The college search
Three kinds of fit.
- AcademicRoom to learn
- SocialA place to belong
- FinancialA cost to understand
Your student at the center.
A question worth asking
How do we build a college list?
Start with what matters to your student, then consider academic opportunities, campus life, and financial fit together. A useful list gives your family choices worth exploring, with cost part of the conversation from the beginning.
Personal guidance. Practical questions.
The right fit has more than one dimension.
A recognizable name is only one part of choosing a school. Your student may be thinking about a field of study, a particular campus environment, or simply what comes after high school. We help families bring those questions into a college search that also considers affordability.
Understand the student
Discuss academic interests, possible career directions, and the experiences your student wants from college.
Explore the fit
Consider school options through academic, social, and financial lenses. Make room for both the student’s preferences and the family’s priorities.
Connect the next steps
Discuss the search and admissions support you need, then connect school choices to financial aid and the plan to pay.
Keep the bigger picture
Bring affordability into the search early.
A college list becomes more useful when you can discuss the cost questions alongside the student’s interest in each school. As estimates become actual offers, revisit the comparison. A school’s published price and the amount a particular family pays may differ.
Three questions to take on a visit
Can I see myself here?
- How would I explore my academic interests?
- What would daily life on this campus feel like?
- What do we still need to learn about the cost?
A visit can make those questions more concrete. Bring the answers back into your family’s comparison.
Let’s start where you are
Start with what you know
You do not need every answer before reaching out. Start with your questions, and we can discuss the next step.
- Subjects and activities your student enjoys
- Possible majors or career interests
- Campus preferences and schools already considered
- Family priorities and questions about affordability
